Ground Breaking Books

Picture
Linda Aronson is a scriptwriter, playwright and novelist who was the first person to provide detailed practical guidelines not only for writing screenplays that use conventional narrative, but also for non-linear forms like flashback, multiple protagonist and multiple time frames, structures traditionally regarded as ‘too difficult’ or ‘too dangerous’. Her books are particularly popular with professional writers.

Her first book, Screenwriting Updated, was quickly taken up by the profession internationally and became a set text at leading film schools around the world. Her new book The 21st Century Screenplay,  a greatly enlarged and extended version of her theories, including a mass of new material on how to write films structured like 21 Grams, Memento, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Atonement, Amores Perros, The Hours, and the like) has already been internationally acclaimed, with the first consignment of books sent to the UK being sold out before it reached the warehouse. Her books have been endorsed by many leading industry figures, including Linda Seger and Christopher Vogler.

She has also written a very popular book on how to write TV scripts , called Television Writing: The Ground Rules of Series, Serials and Sitcom and a book on creative writing for school students called Writing with Imagination' which provides school students with professional writers' techniques for writing fiction, scripts and poetry, including for the HSC and similar public examinations.
